First time boxing?
NEVER BOXED? PERFECT.
Most of our members walked in having never thrown a punch. Here's exactly what your first free session at CMR looks like — no surprises, no pressure.
YOUR FIRST SESSION

Book your free session
Pick any class that suits you. Kids, adults and the ladies-only Thursday class are all open to complete beginners.

A coach will meet you at the door at 49 Derby Road, show you around and ask about any injuries or goals.
- 03

- 04

A short conditioning finisher and stretch. Then you decide if you want to come back — no pressure.

BEGINNER QUESTIONS
I'm not fit. Can I still come?
Yes. Most people start unfit — that's why they come. Every drill can be made easier, and you rest whenever you need.
Will I have to spar?
No. Sparring is always optional and only for members who've learned the basics and want to. You will never be put in a ring on your first day.
Do I need my own gloves?
Not for your first session. We lend gloves and wraps so you can try it before buying anything.
I'm nervous about walking in on my own.
Completely normal. Message us on 07405 205492 before you come and we'll look out for you. Lots of members started exactly the same way.
Can my child come?
Kids classes are for ages 8–12 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:15 pm. Parents can stay and watch, or train together on Monday and Saturday.
What happens after the free session?
Speak to the coaches — tell them what you enjoyed or any concerns with the classes and ask any questions. Give your honest feedback, and if you enjoyed it you can discuss signing up options.
